Cobalt-60

OPG doesn't just generate electricity. Cobalt-60 is a powerful isotope that can sterilize medical equipment and implants, and protect food from harmful bacteria. It’s also produced by a team of specialists in OPG’s nuclear station in Pickering, Ontario. This campaign told the story of a little known aspect of OPG’s nuclear program, and the people behind the isotopes, the human element.

Objective

To inform Ontarians of OPG’s role in producing the important isotope Cobalt-60.

Execution

A series of three online videos designed to educate Ontarians on the valuable role Cobalt-60 plays in keeping food and medical supplies free from germs.

Value

Double the average view completions despite being a somewhat complex scientific process to communicate.
